Seattle -- State Representative Jessyn Farrell (D-Seattle), an attorney and public school mom running for Mayor of Seattle, issued the following statement upon passage of landmark police reform legislation by the Seattle City Council.
“Today marks a tremendous victory for the people of Seattle. All credit goes to the teamwork of Mayor Murray, the City Council, citizen reform advocates and the Federal monitors and judges who have for years worked to shape and enact recommendations that have led to today’s policy.
The people of Seattle—regardless of zip code, racial or economic background—deserve constitutional, accountable, and effective policing. Today is a major step forward in the goal of restoring trust throughout our communities.”
